Grafting or Buddy Tape

The tape creates an ideal environment for a successful graft union. It protects the grafted union from dehydration by sealing in moisture and acts as a barrier against water and air, which protects the joint from environmental damage and disease.

This promotes a strong connection between the rootstock (the bottom, host plant) and the scion (the top part being grafted to the host). While the tape is waterproof, the material is also breathable, allowing oxygen and carbon dioxide to pass through. This prevents the buildup of condensation and moisture that can lead to rot at the graft site.
